Ortho Case of the Week

Welcome to the Ortho Case of the Week Asynchronous Learning Series. Each week an orthopedic case will be posted on the weekly content page. As residents, you are to review the case and answer the questions posted.

As EM physicians, our job is to take care of numerous amounts of orthopedic injuries. Orthopedics will not always be in house. So proper management of fractures, dislocations and other injuries are paramount to your skills.

New this year we are implementing the EMRAP orthopedic fundamentals course (they can explain it way better than I can) videos will be required to be reviewed weekly

How it works:

  • Each week a case will be assigned on the weekly content page.
  • There will be free weeks = when there is no regular conference day
  • The new weekly content will be posted Thursday Mornings at 0500.
  • Quizzes are due by the Thursday Morning by 0900 the following week prior to conference.
  • The quizzes are designed to help you read imaging appropriately, determine the appropriate management (including splinting/reduction/ect.) and disposition.
  • We are keeping track of who does the quizzes.
  • Quarterly there will be a Synchronous in conference review of orthopedic cases to help you apply and demonstrate your knowledge/skills.
