EKG of The Week – Week 35

This week’s EKG comes from a patient seen in C Pod.  The patient is an older male with chest pain.  EMS is calling ahead and tells you that the patient is a STEMI alert and you are the nearest Cath lab.  The fact that it’s a STEMI is not all that impressive, even the EKG machine knows that the patient is having a STEMI.  Use this one as a quick refresher!

Ask yourself:

Do you agree that this patient is having a STEMI? (Hopefully you do)

Where do you expect the lesion to be?

Where would you expect to see reciprocal changes?

Is this a patient I can give nitro to? Why or why not?

What are my indications for a posterior EKG?

What are my indications for a Right-sided EKG?
